IR Flame Scanners

IR Flame Scanner

The IR monitoring system is a type of flame scanner Designed to detect flames through infrared (IR) emissions, these scanners are especially critical in industries like power generation, oil and gas, and manufacturing—where combustion control can mean the difference between safe operations and disaster. As technology advances, IR scanners are increasingly favored over their ultraviolet (UV) counterparts due to their superior accuracy, reliability in extreme environments, and integration with modern automation systems.

Every flame gives off IR energy in specific wavelengths, typically within the 1.0 to 5.0 micron range. These devices pick up those signals and confirm whether a burner is properly igniting and maintaining a flame.

In short, it acts as a watchdog for flame reliability in industrial burners and boilers.

Key Characteristics:

  • Detects invisible infrared emissions from flames.

  • Ideal for low-light or sooty environments where visible detection is unreliable.

  • Common in gas turbines, boilers, and multi-burner furnaces
